Modcomp has helped a broad range of different companies successfully implement SharePoint. Part of the Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint provides an excellent platform for:
- Content Management
- Collaboration
- Document Management
- Records Management
- Business Intelligence
Content Management
When Microsoft launched Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007) it combined its Content Management Server (CMS) 2002 product with SharePoint. Even more than before, MOSS 2007 is now an excellent platform to build web sites for both internal and external users. SharePoint allows you to build your corporate web site and manage the content easily and effectively. Moreover with the integration capabilities of SharePoint, a site can link back to corporate systems or eCommerce sites. A first rate example of the power of SharePoint as a platform for a corporate web site can be seen at Citroën UK.
Collabation
SharePoint provides a platform for teams and co-workers to work together. It does this by providing a location for storing, managing and sharing electronic content such as Word documents, spreadsheets and images. More than just a store for this electronic content, SharePoint also provides tools such as shared calendars, blogs, wikis, online presence information, message boards, etc which enable workers to communicate and work effectively as teams.
Document Management
SharePoint can also be used as a full document management solution. By adding scanning functionality, paper documents can be converted to an electronic format and stored in SharePoint. SharePoint is, therefore, an excellent document management solution and can provide most of the features required by an organisation. However, Modcomp also offers the opportunity to combine SharePoint with OnBase to bring the combined benefits of collaboration solution such as SharePoint and a highly functional dedicated document management solution. Records Management
SharePoint provides a powerful records management solution. Records Management is becoming more and more important as the process of collecting, managing, and disposing of corporate records (information deemed important for the history, knowledge, or legal defence of a company) in a consistent and uniform manner based on the company’s policies increases in importance.
