SharePoint is a powerful and versatile product which supports a broad range of business functions.

However, SharePoint does have certain limitations and it can be beneficial to enhance SharePoint by installing complimentary products and add-ons.

Scanning and Indexing Documents

Ad-hoc Scanning for Microsoft SharePoint enables users to scan documents directly through SharePoint, allowing them to manage
all of their content within a single, familiar interface. Documents are automatically indexed, managed and stored in OnBase, while
still linked and accessible from the related item lists, document libraries and records managed by users in SharePoint.

Supporting Business Processes

Processes such as Accounts Payable, Claims Processing, Job Applications Processing and many others are usually initiated by content that originates outside the organisation and which is often paper based.  OnBase has been designed to handle these sort of processes.  OnBase provides a platform to model these process.  Users can particpate in the processes via SharePoint Web pages which are enabled by OnBase Web Parts.  OnBase provides a single point of administration that offers centralised control and lifecycle management of all content that supports an organisation’s business transactions.

Archive Services for SharePoint

The OnBase Archive Services for SharePoint transfers SharePoint content into OnBase to take advantage of advanced enterprise content management, including complex workflow processing, centralised records management and robust storage solutions.

Records Management and Document Retention

OnBase provides a very powerful and sophisticated Records Management and Document Retention module.  By transferring content to OnBase, SharePoint users can benefit from these modules.  OnBase also has modules to help manage physical records.
