Modcomp Achieves Second Microsoft Competency
31 Oct 2006
Modcomp awarded Competency in Microsoft Mobility Solutions.

Modcomp today achieved a second Microsoft Competency. Having already been one of the first Microsoft Partners to be awarded a competency in Custom Development Solutions, Microsoft today confirmed that Modcomp has also achieved the high standards necessary to be awarded a competency in Microsoft Mobility Solutions.
To achieve this competency Modcomp had to demonstrate not only that we have the skilled resource to deliver software based on Microsoft applications, but also confirmed customer references where Microsoft Windows Mobile Server delivers clear business value.
Modcomp has delivered Mobility Solutions for leading manufacturing companies in the UK and abroad. The use of Personal Digital Terminals (PDTs) in the factory environment gives workers the flexibility to access systems from wherever they are on the shop floor. A perfect example is the solution Modcomp delivered for Koni – one of the worlds’ leading suppliers of shock absorbers. This application supported Koni’s implementation of Kanban at its factory in Oud Beijerland in South Holland. The Kanban application was a key element in Koni’s application of lean manufacturing principles.
The Modcomp Mobility application allowed Koni to significantly reduce the amount of stock in 'Work in Progress' in the factory resulting in considerable cost savings. Moreover, the application also allowed Koni to be much more customer responsive, helping Koni to stay competitive in a very challenging market.
