Modcomp develops mapping application for Mapalytics
26 Jun 2007
Modcomp develops EduMap, the on-line Geographical Information System, for Mapalytics.
EduMap is an on-line Geographical Information System (GIS) developed by Modcomp on behalf of Mapalytics. The product supports field work activity where pupils investigate urban land-use patterns and the area around their schools. Extra modules within the application also provide animations from NASA of exciting world geographical occurrences such as hurricanes and bush fires – bringing geography to life for the students.
At the heart of the application is a powerful mapping and GIS function based on the MapExtreme product from MapInfo, combined with a database of maps sourced from the Ordnance Survey which provides details of every road, landmark and building across the UK.
The EduMap application allows teachers and pupils to spend maximum time on core learning activity with the minimum of time spent on administration.
Mapalytics approached Modcomp to develop the EduMap application. Modcomp is a Gold Certified Microsoft partner with recognised competency in Custom Solutions Development who specialise in .Net and SharePoint applications. Pete Sinclair thanked Modcomp “the guys have done a great job” he said.
